I recently styled a Halloween table and wanted edible elements to complete the look. A few themed bites and drinks can really bring a tablescape to life.

Cranberry Bacon & Walnut Cheeseball

I actually made two types of cheeseballs for the table—these spider minis and a larger Cranberry, Bacon, and Walnut cheeseball. The little spider cheeseballs tuck nicely among grapes and other finger foods.

How do you make a Spider Cheeseball?

It’s very easy.

Combine the ingredients, form the mixture into small balls, coat them, and add legs. I made two sizes—small and large—for variety.

Cheeseball mixture

The base for these cheeseballs blends cream cheese and goat cheese with herbs for a bright, savory flavor that pairs well with the textured coating.

Rolling cheeseballs

Before adding legs, roll each ball in black sesame seeds. The seeds give each spider a striking color and a pleasant crunch.

Coating cheeseballs

For legs, tuck pretzel sticks into the cheeseballs. Use whole sticks for the larger spiders and broken pieces for the smaller ones so each spider has four legs on each side.

Chill the finished cheeseballs until serving. You can eat them directly from the pretzel sticks or offer crackers alongside.

Get creative with presentation: arrange the spiders to look like they’re crawling over green grapes, or tuck a few faux plastic spiders among the food for extra creepiness. It’s an easy way to perfect a Halloween appetizer display.
