In our family we have several advocaat (egg liqueur) fans, so I often cook and bake with advocaat to spoil loved ones. Advocaat gives cookies a rich, vanilla-like flavor and adds a wonderfully creamy, fluffy texture to biscuits and other sweets.
You can use a store-bought advocaat or a homemade egg liqueur, depending on your preference.

These advocaat bites have a subtle advocaat note rather than an overpowering boozy taste, making them ideal for relaxed moments with tea or coffee. Because they are low in fructose, they can be enjoyed in moderation by people with mild fructose sensitivity.

For the dough you will need:
- Cake flour
- Vanilla pudding powder
- Baking powder
- Powdered sugar
- Egg
- Advocaat (egg liqueur)
For the glaze:
- Advocaat
- Powdered sugar
- Chocolate sprinkles for garnish
When baking with advocaat, choose a high-quality product — a poor-quality liqueur will make the finished cookies taste more like alcohol than advocaat. Whenever possible, I prefer ingredients from local producers: eggs from a small farm taste noticeably better and support more humane animal husbandry.

🔪 Instructions
Preheat the oven to 356 °F (180 °C). In a bowl, sieve together the cake flour, vanilla pudding powder and baking powder. Add the powdered sugar, one egg and the advocaat. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer until a smooth dough forms.
Important: the dough may look dry and crumbly at first — keep mixing patiently. After a short while the dough will come together into a soft, slightly sticky paste that’s easy to shape.

Form small heaps of dough with two teaspoons (this recipe makes about 35–37 cookies) and place them on baking trays lined with baking paper. Bake on the middle rack for about 15 minutes per tray until lightly golden.

While the cookies bake, prepare the glaze: stir two tablespoons of advocaat into the powdered sugar in a small bowl until you have a sticky, spreadable glaze.
Keep an eye on the cookies in the oven so they don’t overbrown.
Glazing the Advocaat Bites

Allow the baked cookies to cool slightly so the glaze adheres better. Use a pastry brush to coat each cookie with the advocaat glaze, then immediately sprinkle chocolate flakes on top. Let the glazed cookies dry on the baking paper before storing.

Serve them as a cozy Advent treat with coffee, tea and festive music. To keep them fresh, store the cookies in a sealed tin lined with greaseproof paper so they don’t dry out.
